Built-in Steel Plate Structure Vertical Retort

The built-in steel plate structure vertical retort is an industry-leading vertical retort for fine coal upgrading technology jointly developed by ACRE and Xinjiang Yuanrui Shenghu Energy Co., Ltd. This technology combines the pilot-scale experience from the indirect-heating type built-in steel plate structure retort at Xinjiang Yuanrui Shenghu with the expertise in indirect-heating type vertical retort technology from ACRE. A demonstration facility has been built at Xinjiang Yuanrui Shenghu Energy Co., Ltd.

This technology offers multiple technical advantages including low volatile content in upgraded coal, high gas production with low dust content, high tar yield, high heat transfer efficiency, easy separation of tar and ammonia water, simplified treatment of phenol and ammonia-containing wastewater, and high level of automation.

This technology employs indirect heating, with a coal drying device installed in the upper part of the coking chamber that utilizes waste heat from the carbonization zone to dry the coal. The coking chamber forms a top-down temperature gradient, with coal slowly descending as temperature gradually increases, allowing thorough upgrading at each temperature stage and maximizing the release of volatiles from the coal. The main products are upgraded coal, tar, and high-calorific clean gas.
